Pain Management & Rehabilitation (PMR)

Doctors of Pain Management and Rehabilitation or Physiatrists, are nerve, muscle, and bone experts that specialize in treatment of injuries and illnesses that affect how you move. They diagnose the cause of the pain, explain your medical problems and develop treatment plans to enhance and restore maximum functional ability and quality of life. Pain management is achieved through multi-disciplinary approaches involving Physical Therapists, Psychologists, Occupational and Exercise Therapists.

Pain Management and Rehabilitation Doctors treat conditions that stem from Spinal Cord Injuries, Amputations, Sports Injuries, Strokes, Musculoskeletal Pains such as: back pain, Fibromyalgia, and traumatic Brain injury.

The major consideration of the Physiatrist is for the person to function optimally within the limitations placed upon them by the disabling impairment, not to get them to their premorbid levels. Chronic conditions require comprehensive rehabilitation teams including Physical and Occupational Therapists, Psychiatrists, and other Specialists.

Tests and treatments include:

  • EMG Test
